More About the Artists!
Allyson Casey’s musical career kicked off with an unexpected shove into an audition for a college singing group. Since that day she has shared the stage with performers including Deb Talan (The Weepies), Edie Carey, and Beth Wood and has brought percussive folk rock style and honest lyrics to venues including Club Passim, The Burren and The Middle East and on WERS 88.9 FM. Casey is also a member of The Cicada Sessions, a harmonically rich confederation of musicians Melissa Morris, Divya Kumar, Nick Zaino and Robyn Priest.
Melissa Zaino:
I’ve been listening to Kris Delmhorst since 1999 and what I love most about her music is the joy and effortlessness she conveys while performing. As a classically-trained musician, music for me has always been an intensely rigid and physical experience where you are always conscious of breath, muscles, brain. Kris’s artistry feels completely opposite – to me, she is a conduit through which gorgeous music simply flows. This show has given me an opportunity to work on sitting back and let the music come forth as it will, instead of forcing it happen.
Jocelyn Limmer:
I have been a songwriter for 13 years and a *mostly* recovering perfectionist for 5. For me, music is all about embracing uncomfortable emotions or life situations—on good days, with a sense of humor. Some of my favorite artists are Elliott Smith, Amanda Palmer and old-school Sia. (Also, if you haven’t listened to Mary Lambert, you should probably go do that right now!)
Poor Eliza (Jane Park) is a Boston songwriter who loves to explore themes from her Tennessee upbringing with the sounds and rhythms of alt-country and indie-rock. She has played all over the Boston area, and is excited to try new things and meet more artists! Her latest self-released title “Ghost Town” is the tale of a townie who never leaves their hometown.
